Rest, Sleep, and Sabbath

Rest is not a reward that must be earned—it is an essential rhythm of health, consolidation, restoration and healing of body, mind and spirit. Our bodies need good sleep for physical restoration to a cellular level and for cognitive and memory consolidation. Many chronic health problems are being linked to poor sleep quality, so improving sleep routines, sleep hygiene and sleep quality yields meaningful benefits and healthier life outcomes. Quality sleep, stillness, intentionally slowed rhythms, and Sabbath practices restore body, mind and spirit, allowing us to show up fully for life while gaining healthy perspectives on effort, productivity and achievement.
